Gabe's Story
"My experience before treatment was pretty intense. I had been shooting heroin for about four and half years until I finally felt broken enough to do something about it. When I came to Purple I was 19 years old. I had no intentions of getting sober, but I hoped if I stuck around something might change. I couldn't imagine life without heroin but when I finally let go of my thinking and justr tried a new way, life got better.
I stayed for six months and while I was there I learned about how to stay sober and how to have fun in sobriety. After leaving Purple I felt prepared for the real world because I was a part of society while in treatment. I wasn't isolated from the world at all. I regularly attend 12-step meetings and continue to work with the new guys at Purple on a daily basis."
